A New Tooth

I was driving to Plymouth today on the way to my friend Amy's baby shower and thought to myself, "Amy's shower is on the 29th and that is today. Hey! That means that the 26th was Thursday. Gabriel turned 7 months old with out me even realizing it!" I don't know how that happened, but time is just flying by.

Our little man is now sitting up and playing with his toys for as much as an hour at a time. He also can get just about anywhere he wants because he has started scooting across the floor along with all the rolling and turning. And yesterday I noticed that he has a brand new tooth! I have been waiting for one of his top front teeth to pop out but he tricked us and sprouted the one next in line on the top left side. I think the right side will be out soon and I bet the top front will not be long.

I was able to get a picture of it yesterday but I can't find the camera cord to put my pictures onto the computer so I will have to do that soon.

Another trip to Maryland

Last week Mia, Gabriel, and I went to Maryland with Grandma Teresa to visit Aunt Cori. On the way the laptop decided to die so when we got home Mike and I made a trip to the Apple store and bought a new iMac. So now I can update you on our trip.

Monday we loaded up the ol' Chevy Venture and headed out at 9:30 am. We planned on driving about 8 hours or so and staying the night about an hour and 30 minutes "drive time" from Cori's apartment. It took 11 hours, 2 stops at Target (one for baby food and one for the formula I left sitting on the counter at home), 1 stop for lunch, and who knows how many bathroom breaks to get to our hotel. When we finally got there the computers where down and the person working at the front desk that day didn't write who was in what room so the first two rooms we got where occupied.  By the time we got in our room and headed over to Cracker Barrel for dinner it was 9:30 pm.

After a good nights sleep we headed to Cori's apartment. When we got there we ate lunch and took the Metro to D.C. to go to the Air and Space museum and the American Indian museum. When we got back we played on Cori & Paul's new Wii and had lots of fun making Miis for everyone, including Gabriel.

On Wednesday morning we took Cori with us to Williamsburg, VA and stayed at a resort for 2 nights. Mia LOVES everything that has to do with the "olden days" so this was the perfect place to take her. We walked around Historical Williamsburg and also visited Jamestown where we got to see how the Indians lived and we got to do some of the everyday chores they did.

By Friday I was ready to get home, so at 7:00 we started by taking Cori home. At 11:15 we stared the long journey home. My mom was a little worried about driving all the way home but I told her that we didn't have to stop at Target 2 times and this time lunch would be a drive-through. We made it home in 9 1/2 hours!!!

6 Month Check Up

Today Gabriel had his 6 month well child check up and he is doing great. He weighs 17 pounds and is 27 1/4 inches long! I will be going to Ron & Chloe's tomorrow to look on the wall and see how old Mia was when she was 27 inches tall (we have a very scientific growth record for her). I just never imagined that I would have a baby in the 75th percentile for his height! He is going to be taller than I am by the time he is 12. But that is nothing new. My BABY brother Jacob is 12 and he is way taller than I am.

But this blog is about how big Mr. Gabe is not my big/little brother.

Mia was a very big help today, she fed Gabriel his apples while I made soup for dinner. She was so excited because this was the first time I let her feed Gabriel all by herself. She even got to give him a few Cheerios which he LOVES to squish between his gums and "chew" them up. He can't quite pick them up and get them in his mouth yet but he likes to try. :)

Movie time!

On Saturday Mia had her very first "I just met the people and I am leaving my child at this house" slumber party. She was very excited all week and when we dropped her off she went to play with her friends and didn't look back. Having only one child for the night we thought it would be a good time to go get the paint for our trim and look at grass seed (having two dogs that love to dig and run around like crazy has done a number on the grass). So at 7:30 when my phone rang in the middle of the garden center I just knew it was "the call". Mia was having a meltdown and wanted me to come get her. The paint would have to wait, my little girl needed me. When we got home we decided to watch the movie Mia had got from Netflix, National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets . We got out Mia's sleeping bag and started the movie. Waiting for Mike to finish up some work stuff I got a few cute pictures of the kids.

Amanda's Visit

My friend Amanda (who moved too far away to Kentucky) came to meet Gabriel two weeks ago with her two little girls, Gracie and Marybeth. The babies had a wonderful time playing together and it was great to see them and get to spend some time with them!

Marybeth and Gabriel

It this true love or do they just want the same taggie?

It has been too long.

My last blog was in April and it is almost June this has got to STOP! I have lots of thing to say and don't know where to start....

Mike has been working an insane amount. The project he is working on is launching their website tomorrow so this week is "crunch time". On Monday he is going to Texas to do some user training and will be gone for three days. I plan on posting at least one post a day when he is gone, we will all see how that goes.

We have been working hard trying to get our "small projects" done around the house. We talked to a realtor about selling our house a few months ago and because of all the foreclosures in our area we have decided to try and rent our house or just suck it up and stay in it for now. Last weekend Gabriel spent everyday with Grandma Kathy and Papa so I could paint the stairs. I really like how they turned out and can't wait to get the rest of our projects DONE.

It is hard to believe but on Monday Gabriel will be 6 months old! It is just amazing how fast the time goes. He is really looking forward to figuring out how to crawl but for now he gets around quite well rolling. He also is very close to sitting up all by himself. He is still a little tippy but he is getting it. I have more to blog but I think Mr. Gabe is waking up from his 15 min cat nap.

5 Months Old

Well it has been way too long and there are a lot of updates to be blogged about.

Lets start with food. Gabriel started getting interested in eating solid food at about 4 months. I was going to try and wait until he was at least 5 months old to start feeding him solids but he talked me into it and we tried rice cereal about 3 weeks ago. The first day he ate about 4 baby spoons full and was done. The next day he ate I would guess about 4 tablespoons full. Now he is eating rice, butternut squash, and oats. Today at lunch I could not believe how much he ate. I fed him squash and he was mad at me when it was gone, so I made him some oat cereal and a bottle. (He has decided that nursing is not an efficient way to get milk and has started drinking more bottles.) According to the cheap bathroom scale we have he is about 17 pounds! I looked in Mia's baby book and at 5 months she was only 11 pounds 6 ounces. What a big difference!

We also have 2 new teeth in the family! Gabriel's first two bottom teeth emerged at the end of last week. They make him look so big.

Due to lack of planning, last night we ran out of the diapers we use at night (seventh generation) so we tried gDiapers overnight for the first time. Lets just say I am glad that UPS delivered my diapers.com order today! We also ran out of clean gDipaper "little g's" the outer cloth part. So this morning I had to fashion a diaper out of the inside liner of a gDiaper and a blanket (very 007).
